Srinagar, Aug 24: Caring least about the COVID-19 protocols and SOP’s, Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) kick started it’s Inter-Zonal level competitions in various sports disciplines in Srinagar on Monday, August 24.

Floating all the COVID-19 SOP’s, Governments own department DYSS kick started events of Kho-kho, Cricket and Football in Srinagar. The events were held in various venues of Srinagar with both participants and officials seen breaking the COVID-19 SOP’s .

The height of breaking the rules was that DYSS Srinagar went ahead Kho Kho events which is contact sport and has not been allowed to ho ahead all over India. Apart from that it is almost impossible at local level to maintain SOP’s during events.

The standard with which DYSS do conduct its events raise many questions on how Administration while preaching general public about don’t and boy’s is itself putting lives at risk.

DYSS statement about event

“The Department of YSS Srinagar kick starts it activities today in different games and sports for Peace & Development “A youth out-reach initiate” (A vertical to Khelo India – Inter Zonal Block Competitions) The activities were inaugurated by DYSSO Srinagar Balbir Singh. The tournaments were organized in Cricket, football & Kho Kho respectively, ” Statement said.

“The matches were played in different venues under the supervision of Zonal Physical officers of different sports zones of District Srinagar,” It said.

In Kho Kho matches for Girls were played at GHSS Chattabal Srinagar in which 8 Teams of different zones participated. 

In the matches played zone Gulab Bagh beat zone Batmaloo, Zone Nishat beat Zone Eidgah, Zone Amirakadal beat Zone Zaldagar and Zone Hawal beat Zone Rainawari.   

In the Football matches were played at Gindun Ground Rajbagh.

In the event 5 teams participated. Zone Zaldagar beat Zone Batmaloo, Zone Hawal beat zone Nishat and Zone Amirakadal was given Walkover. 

The Cricket event was held at two venues BHSS Zaidbal and BHSS MPML, Bagh-e-Dilawar Khan. In the matches played Eidgah beat zone Rainawari, zone Hawal beat zone Nishat Zone Batmaloo beat Zone Gulab Bagh, Zone Amirakadal beat zone Zaldagar.  The final matches will be played tomorrow.
