Srinagar, July 20: Ranji Trophy and U-19 Vinoo Mankad Trophy are the only two domestic tournaments to go ahead this season as Covid-19 continues to dominate India.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to cancel major tournaments like Vijay Hazare Trophy, Col CK Nayudu U-23 Trophy, and other events, which were scheduled before December, Times of India reported on Monday.
The cricketing body is also looking to accommodate Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in between.
According to TOI, Ranji Trophy is most likely to be played in zonal format with teams being distributed in North, South, Centre, East and West zones, geographically.
The top teams from five zones will then compete with each other to decide the final winner of the tournament. Pertinently, U-19 tournament will also be played on same lines.
BCCI is planning about how to work out other things, including logistics and management of players during these tough times.
