CricketPakistan Chief Selector Mohammad Wasim sacked

Srinagar: The newly appointed Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) management committee has stacked Pakistan men’s cricket team Chief Selector Mohammad Wasim.

The management committee has also terminated all committees formed under the now-defunct 2019 constitution. PCB Management Committee under Najam Sethi has sacked all the local and foreign coaches of six domestic teams.

Wasim was named head of the selection committee in January 2021.

Pertinently Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif removed Ramiz Raja and his Board after revoking the PCB 2019 constitution and giving the Sethi-led 14-member committee full executive powers to work on reviving the department structure which was abolished in 2019 after Imran Khan became the prime minister of the country – the prime minister of Pakistan is automatically the patron-in-chief of the PCB.

The new committee will have 120 days to change the PCB’s constitution, bringing back the 2014 version to replace the one put in place in 2019.
