Srinagar, July 28: With multiple reports claiming that a England based company is planning to seize the equipment of Pakistan cricket team that is in England due to it’s dispute with Pakistan Goverment, Pakistan Cricket Board has responded and said that they are keeping an eye on it.
There have been multiple reports that Broadsheet LLC, a company that won the arbitration case against the state of Pakistan and the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) back in 2018, may seize the equipment of the Men in Green cricket team during their ongoing tour of England.
In response PCB as reported by ESPNCricinfo has said that the Pakistan board remains firm that since it is an autonomous body, the mens national team is not liable for any damages on behalf of the Pakistan government.
According to a report published in a local newspaper on Monday and quoting by various other media houses , Broadsheet LLC had dispatched a letter to the Pakistan government’s legal counsel in the aforementioned case, Allen & Overy, in which they clearly mentioned that the government of Pakistan owes more than 33 million dollars in damages to the company. As a result of the damages, the company holds the right to seize Pakistan cricket team’s assets, the report added.
“The Pakistan cricket team is currently in the UK preparing for a Test series against England. We consider that the team is, by the very nature, an asset of the defendant and that monies due to the team and assets of the team are assets of the defendant to the litigation,” Broadsheet LLC had said in the aforementioned letter.
The report further said that the PCB is currently in touch with the Pakistan Embassy in England regarding the issue and believes that the matter will be resolved soon.
