Srinagar: Apart from first couple of season, Pakistan cricketers are no no in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and it has remained so for more than a decade now. However, the former cricketers have deliberated upon the chances of star Pakistan cricketers in future IPL.
In a ESPNCricinfo show, former cricketers Sanjay Manjrekar and Tom Moody were asked to name Pakistan players who could play in cash rich IPL in a perfect World . Moody said Shaheen Afridi would be a number one pick for any franchise.
The former head of Sunrisers Hyderabad also backed Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan and Shadab Khan to get lucrative contracts from teams.
“Pakistan have Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, Shaheen Afridi and Shadab Khan. They are terrific players in this format of the game. Afridi would be a box office hit,” Moody said on ESPNcricinfo.com.
Manjrekar said that IPL teams should also look for Haris Rauf and Fakhar Zaman.
“Haris Rauf for his death bowling. I would prefer their fast bowlers. However, Fakhar Zaman could be an interesting choice,” he said.
Manjrekar said that Rizwan could play the anchor’s role.
