Srinagar, 17 September: In a surprising turn of events, a cricketer is being questioned over originality of his date-of-birth days after Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) announced the Under-19 men’s squad.
On September 10, a 20-member squad was named by the cricket association. The selected players were thereafter practicing in Srinagar.
However, a few days before leaving for the event, it has been revealed that one of the players selected in team is being questioned about his date-of-birth certificate.
“JKCA in a true amateur manner had registered this player for the event with BCCI. They had done it on the basis of previous record of the cricketer,” a source said.
However, after a complaint was lodged by someone with BCCI, they asked the association to verify date-of-birth of the cricketer.
“JKCA approached concerned education department to verify the details of player in question,” the source added.
However, the confirmation of the development couldn’t be taken from JKCA as they’re still double-checking it.
