Srinagar, July 12: Players from as many as 15 sports disciplines across Jammu and Kashmir have alleged volition of ‘Sports Code’ by Ashutosh Sharma –Pesident J&K Olympic Association – making J&K Sports Council initiate an enquiry against him.

A written complaint, accessed by KSW, sent to Sports Council by J&K Cycling Association and players from other 14 sports says Ashutosh is “behind the debacle of sports in J&K.”

“He is mastermind for capturing associations and holding more than 15 Associations, which (are) being operated from Karana Nagar. He is more than 85 years old and holding President post of the J&K Olympic Association. It is
against the norms of Sports code being framed by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and
Sports, Government of India, New Delhi,” the complaint says.

Reacting to the allegations made against him, J&K Sports Council has asked Sports Officer Jammu to look into this matter and report back in 7 days.

“I am directed to enclose herewith a copy of complaint jointly filed by Cycling Association of J&K & players of various sports disciplines against Sh. Ashutosh Sharma alleging therein various charges including capturing the Associations and holding more than 15 Associations in flagrant violation of Sports Code. You are requested to please go through the contents of the complaint and furnish factual report in the matter within a period of seven days copy of complaints is enclosed,” the order reads.
