The Kashmir unrest-2016 seems to have turned into financial windfall for the J&K Football Association (JKFA) as the football body got around rupees 80-lakh from J&K State Sports Council for conduct of different activities during last 9-months.
Having being confined mostly to the annual grant of around rupees two lakh over the years, JKFA in only last 9 months has got more than rupees 80-lakh for conducting three activities.
The body received 59, 59,80,000 and for the second activity which was not related to football got Rs: 17,40,262 lakhs.
The third activity which is Inter-Academy football event, JKFA has been sanctioned Rupees 4-lakh by the Council.
For the first two activities only, football governing body of J&K got Rs 77, 20,262. This was revealed in the minutes of meeting of 132nd Standing Committee of J&K State Sports Council.
The standing committee confirmed the action taken in implementing the Khelo India programme during 2016-17 with a total expenditure of Rupees 4,17,98,792, minutes of meeting document read. Among others J&K Football Association was granted Rs 59,80,000 for the conduct of football activities under the scheme.
In the same meeting it was also revealed that JKFA organized the ‘Gala Sports Festival’ in Srinagar on December, 6-2016.
The standing committee approved regularization of expenditure of Rs 17,40,262 incurred by JKFA duly authenticated by the constituted committee on conduct of Sports Gala Festival held at SKICC on December , 6-2016 attended by 85,00 players and officials, minutes of meeting document further reads.
