Srinagar, February 05: An excellent display of batting by all-rounder Abid Mushtaq on Wednesday helped J&K post 329 runs on board in the first innings of round-eight Ranji Trophy match against Tripura at Agartala.

Resuming on overnight score of 280/9, Abid (76* off 88) alongside Mohammed Mudhasir (27 off 19), who is known for big shots, started dominating Tripura bowlers from the word go. Although the ball was swiningg, the duo struck boundaries on regular intervals, making opposition think.

They went on to form a stunning 65-run stand for the last wicket, taking J&K to above par 329 runs. In reply, hosts got off to a horrible start with Umar Nazir removing one of their openers in just second over.

Umar looked completely unplayable throughout his first spell of 9 overs, conceding paltry 8 runs, including four maidens. Making most of his devastating spell, Parvez Rasool, on the other end, was able to go for wickets, hence taking a brace.

At the lunch of day-two, Tripura were 63-3 in 24 overs with Pratyush Singh not out on 29 runs.
