Srinagar, December 17: It will be historic day in J&K Football on Saturday as Real Kashmir FC would be clashing with George Telegraph Football side in the final of the historic IFA Shield Football tournament in Kolkatta.
The only ever team of J&K to play in IFA Shield Tournament on its way to final had on Wednesday outplayed one of the most well known Football side of India, Mohammedan Sporting Club by 4-0 goals in semifinal. Before that they had emerged as group winners and have so far won three out of three matches in the event.
It will be historic day for J&K on Saturday as IFA Shield is one of the oldest Football tournament in the World, having started in the year 1893.
Football fans of Kashmir would be glued to their mobile screens on Saturday to get updates of the match. Real Kashmir FC on paper are favourites to lift the historic trophy.
Meanwhile JKFA has congratulated Real Kashmir FC and hailed it’s play in semi final.
“The spectators applauded the brilliant ball control and superb passing of Real Kashmir FC. The fraternity of footballers have also congratulated the team for their brilliant performance,” said Jammu and Kashmir Football Association (JKFA).
” It is pertinent to mention here that the chairman of the Real Kashmir FC has put his best efforts to field a strong side in the tournament and encouraged the players in right earnest to see the team flourishing. He deserves commendation for the interest that he takes in promoting the game of Football in the JKUT,” it added.
