Puducherry, Jan 21: Shivanti Gupta, Anju Tomar and Rubia Syed scored brilliant half-centuries, while the bowling quartet of Nadia Chowdhary, Sandhya Sayal, Sarla Devi and Rubia Syed displayed brilliance to guide Jammu and Kashmir to a big win by 205 runs over minnows Mizoram in the ongoing Senior Women’s One Day Trophy at CAP Ground-3, Puducherry today.

Earlier, winning the toss and batting first, J&K openers-Shivanti Gupta and Sheerazah Banoo began on a cautious note before Sheerazah (10) was sent back to the pavilion at the team’s total of 17 runs in 4.4 overs. Then Shivanti alongwith number-3 Anju Tomar played sensibly and made a big partnership of 145 runs to take the score to 162 runs in 39.2 overs before Shivanti departed at her individual score of 83 runs off 115 balls, studded with 10 boundaries, while Anju Tomar contributed 68 runs off 121 balls including 6 boundaries. However, the highlight of the innings was explosive Rubia Syed’s power-packed unbeaten 60 runs off 42 balls, studded with 6 fours and 3 massive sixes. She sent the bowlers on a leather hunt and made a big difference in the run-rate.

For Mizoram, skipper Apurwa Bhardwaj was the pick of the bowlers, who took 3 wickets by conceding 46 runs in her 10 overs, while Puipuii claimed one wicket.

In reply, Mizoram bundled out for paltry 40 runs, thus lost the match by a huge margin of 205 runs. None of the batters could cross the double figure mark. Openers Puja Adikary (9) and Omomi (8) were the main contributors.

For J&K, left-arm spinner Nadia Chowdhary was the pick of the bowlers, who took 3 wickets by conceding 10 runs in her 3 overs, while Sandhya Sayal also bagged 3 wickets by giving away 24 runs in her 7.5 overs. Talented seamer Sarla Devi took 2 wickets by conceding 6 runs in her 6 overs, while Rubia Syed claimed one wicket.
