Srinagar: Former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar has said that he is scared of Pakistan current squad after their dismal outing in the last T20I against England Lahore on Sunday.
England thrashed Pakistan by 67 runs in the seventh T20I to take series. It was once again a dismal outing by Pakistan middle order after both openers Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan got out early.
Akhtar said he is scared of Pakistan middle order and no one in team management is listening.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, the former pacer said that the middle-order isn’t good and they fail when the openers don’t perform well.
Meanwhile Shoaib Akhtar had special praise for Haris Rauf and urged the other bowlers to step up as well.
“Pakistan middle-order is not good. If the openers don’t perform, the middle-order collapses. This is not the way you go into the World Cup and win the World Cup. It will not work this way,” Akhtar said on his Youtube Channel.
“Even in terms of the World Cup, I hope Pakistan don’t crash out in the first round. I’m scared with this team. That is why I criticized Saqlain and others to get your middle-order, batting order in order. Somehow they’re not listening. But hopefully, Pakistan make a good comeback in the World Cup and in New Zealand tri-series,” he said.
“I like to see Pakistan doing well and it is disheartening to see them lose. But Pakistan is in a dire situation and from here things aren’t going to be easy for them. Hopefully they will learn a thing or two from my videos and improve their middle order. Babar cannot perform in every game,” Akhtar added.
