Baramulla, July 19: Monday belonged to Friends XI Tangmarg and Showket Blues Bijbehara as they pipped their respective opponents in the ongoing 17th SNW Memorial Cricket Trophy at Chanderhama.
In the first match, Tangmarg, after posting a moderate total of 145 runs, bowled exceptionally well to run away with a narrow 7-run win against Sports Club Ganderbal.
Arshid top-scored for Ganderbal with 52 runs while Adil Naqeeb and Raja Muneer picked three wickets each for Tangmarg. Adil Naqeeb, having made 21 runs with the bat as well, was named man of the match.
In the second game, Showket Blues Bijbehara stunned a star-studded Friends Motors Narbal by huge 82 runs.
Batting first, Bijbehara put on good total of 183 runs, thanks to a fifty scored by Shakeel. Ishtiyaq and Amir Benzy aslo struck 47 and 30, respectively.
In reply, Narbal was going smooth, however, things changed all of sudden, mostly due to not-so-impressive batting and some drizzle.
Bijbehara bowlers made most of the conditions, rattling Narbal to meagre 101 runs. Umar top-scored with 26 runs.
For Bijbehara, Amir Benzy picked a 4-wicket-haul. For his impressive outing with both bat and ball, Benzy was declared man of the match.
