J&K State Sports Council Swimming coaching camp is turning out a hit among the youth as large number of mostly students have turned up for the training.

Introduced recently as part of its summer coaching camp, around 50 students are currently undergoing training in swimming at Water Sports School, Nehru Park under the watchful eyes of International water sport coach of Kashmir Bilquis Mir.
Apart from Swimming in the camp training of kayaking and canoeing, canoe polo are also imparted to students.In the kayaking and canoeing 50 students are undergoing training while as in canoe polo 25.
Though the intake capacity is limited, according to Bilquis they are getting too many queries for the camp and the next course.
“Kayaking, Canoeing and Canoe Polo is usual stuff at Water Sports School. It is Swimming that is turning out a major hit among students. Everyone is enquiring about it and we already are giving training to 50 students in the camp. We will continue our programe and will try to teach as many kids art of swimming as we can,” she said.
“We have full support from Secretary Sports Council and Sports Minister. They have given us go ahead for any initiative that we intend to take in water sport. Shortly we will organize number of activities,” she added.
