Coming out and revealing that he has been tested positive for COVID-19 former Pakistan cricketer Taufeeq Umar has requested fans to pray for his recovery.

As per report having experienced feverish signs on Sunday (May 23), the left-handed batsman had acted swiftly by opting for a test.

Umar is the fourth reputed cricketer to be affected by COVID-19 after Majid Haq (Scotland), Zafar Sarfaraz (Pakistan) and Solo Nqweni (South Africa).

“I got myself tested last night after feeling a little sick last night, and the result came positive. My symptoms are not at all severe,” Umar told Geo News.

“I have isolated myself at home,” he further said, adding: “I appeal to everyone to pray for my swift recovery.”

Umar has represented Pakistan in the 44 Tests. While he wasn’t part of the squad between 2006 and 2010, the southpaw did have his moments, right from his debut in 2001 when he smoked a ton.

The opening batsman also played ODI cricket, albeit without the same degree of success. Umar played his last international game in 2014.
