Srinagar, Sep 9: The Under 17 years Inter-Zonal Cricket Tournament concluded in Anantnag District today with full enthusiasm of players and officials.
The concluding function was presided over by the District Development Commissioner, K K Sidha who distributed medals and mementos amongst the winners. Sidha expressed his happiness for organising the sporting events in Anantnag district after the Covid 19 ordeal and observing the SOPs.
He said that all required sports facilities would be made available to the interested players. He advised the students to take active part in sports as it helps develop personality traits and keeps one healthy. The DDC declared to award full sports kit to the finalist teams and bat to all participants of the tournament from his own funds.
The District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Mushtaq Ahmad Pampori and concerned ZPEOs were present on the occasion. Mushtaq Ahmad Pampori, DYSSO advised students to take active part in sporting activities, conducted in different age groups at different levels by his departmen
The Inter-Zonal under 17 Cricket Tournaments was organised by District Youth Services and Sports Office, Anantnag from 2nd September at Tikbagh Mattan. Nearly 170 players of 48 schools, resenting 12 Zones of Anantnag district took active part in 8-day long tournament. Sakib Nasir of Achhabal Zone was declared Man of the Series. In the final match Bijbihara Zone defeated Achabal Zone.
Meanwhile, Under 14 years and Under 19 years Inter-Zonal Cricket Tournaments of DYSSO are in progress at Nainil and Anantnag Cricket Stadia. Besides, the Volleyball Tournaments in all age groups are also in progress at Mattan Stadium.
