Srinagar, December 22: Haryana skipper Mayank Shandilya wreaked havoc as after a 7-wicket haul in the first innings, he again captured 6 important wickets to take his side closer to an innings victory over J&K in the ongoing Cooch Behar Trophy at Dr Rajasekhara Reddy ACA VDCA Cricket Stadium, Vizag today.
Earlier, resuming from an overnight score of 111/3, Jammu and Kashmir managed to score 238 runs in their first innings, thus conceding a lead of 199 runs. Shivansh Sharma, who is in sublime form scored magnificent 85 runs off 171 balls, while debutant Jugjap Singh played a valuable innings of 49 runs off 91 balls. Jasbir Singh (19) and Dhruv Singh Parmar (18) were the other contributors. For Haryana, skipper Mayank Shandilya was the wrecker-in-chief, who took 7 wickets by giving away 92 runs in his 29.1 overs, while Parth Vats bagged 2 wickets and Akhil Ahlawat claimed one.
Following-on, J&K were struggling at 193/8 at stumps on day-3, needing 6 more runs to avoid the innings defeat, having 2 wickets in hand. Arya Thakur top scored with explosive 65 runs off 44 balls, while another opening batsman Abid Hussain and dependable Shivansh Sharma contributed 47 and 40 runs to the total respectively. Mayank Shandilya took 6 important wickets by conceding 69 runs in his 23 overs, while Parth Vats claimed 2 wickets.
J&K still need 6 runs with 2 wickets in hand to avoid innings defeat.
