Tamil Nadu on Saturday defeated J&K by 34 runs in the first game of U-19 Women’s T20 Trophy at DVR Ground, Mulapadu.

Batting first, Tamil Nadu put on a formidable total of 130 runs. J&K bowlers had done an exceptional job earlier on, taking Tamil Nadu’s 3 wickets on the score of 19.

However, opener Aafreen Sait stood tall from one end. She scored brilliant unbeaten 53-ball 54 runs. M Sabrina also provided her the support from the other end with 24-run cameo.

For J&K, Maroof Anjum was pick of the bowlers. She picked three wickets while giving away only 24 runs in her 4 overs. Apart from her, Khushboo Aftab and Aanvi Singh also picked up a wicket each.

Chasing 131, J&K got off to a good start with opener Bawandeep Kaur taking control. She struck 26 runs off 29 balls before falling to Tamil Nadu captain B Jenitha. Her partner Rudrakshi Chib also made 29 runs off 38 balls.

Apart from openers, no other J&K batter could make an impact as they were restricted to 96/6 in 20 overs, falling short by 34 runs.

J&K will play its second match tomorrow (2nd October) against Odhisa.
