New Delhi: With India set to play West Indies in the third ODI of the 5-match ODI series on Friday, Virat Kohli and boys hit the gym to sweat it out and stay in shape. Tuesday was an off day for the boys as they reached North Sound from Port of Spain, but the boys didn’t skip their gym session under the watchful eyes of Shanker Basu.
Fitness has been an integral part of training session for the Indian team under Kohli and opener Shikhar Dhawan posted a video of a gym session with Yuvraj Singh, Kohli and Hardik Pandya accompanying him. The Instagram post read: “Off day or not , training is alwys on with fun !!
Hardik Pandya too took to Instagram to post a photo from the training session: “Gym culture at its best with the team. What an atmosphere for the fitness aficionados. 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼 @imbhuvi @shikhardofficial @kedarjadhavofficial.”
While the first two ODIs were played in Port of Spain, the next two ODIs are set to be played at the Vivian Richards Stadium in North Sound before the teams finally move to Jamaica for the fifth ODI and the lone T20I.
While the first game of the ODI series was washed off due to rain, India produced a stunning all-round performance to thrash West Indies by 105 runs in the second ODI at the Queen’s Park Stadium to take a 1-0 lead in the five match series on Sunday.
The bowlers stunned the hosts with their impeccable line and length after India’s top three came up with the goods as the Men in Blue recorded their biggest ever victory in West Indies. Ajinkya Rahane smashed his third ODI hundred as India produced a dominating batting display to pile on 310 for 5 in their second cricket ODI.
Rahane (103) and his opening partner Dhawan (63) laid a strong foundation with a 114-run stand and despite a bit of a wobble in the middle overs, India went past 300 with captain Virat Kohli stamping his class with a 66-ball 87 later in the innings. Chasing a mammoth target of 311, West Indies got off to the worst start possible as Bhuvneshwar Kumar removed Kieron Powell for a duck.
