Srinagar: Former Pakistan cricketer and current head coach Saqlain Mushtaq has said that they have selected the best available players and they need to show faith in them.

Saqlain said this after Pakistan suffered defeat in the third T20I against England on Friday.

Middle order batters Harry Brook scored a 35-ball 81 not out while Ben Duckett cracked an unbeaten 42-ball 69 to lead England to an impressive 221-3 in their 20 overs.

“We have selected the best available players and we should have faith in them. Whether half of the series is gone or it is the start of the series,” said Saqlain in a post-match press conference.

“Imagine me saying this that I don’t have faith in my players, that would be so wrong. I don’t trust my players, the captain and chief selector don’t trust their players, this would be an abnormal answer. We should trust these players and we trust this lot. There is a slight concern but we will try our best to sort out these concerns,” he said.

“I think our bowling had a lot of flaws and according to plan, we couldn’t execute it. And that gave the opportunity to England to control which they did very well,” he said.

“I think we didn’t do well with the ball and when this much total is on the board, the intent with which you are going, if couple of wickets fall the average piles up to go out of your range.”

The fourth T20I will be played on September 25 before the action moves to Lahore for remaining three matches.
