[dropcap]W[/dropcap]badreeest Indies leg-spinner Samuel Badree has said his side is wary of the challenge posed by the Pakistan team in the three-match Twenty20 series starting from September 23 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

“On their day, they can demolish any opposition, and we are wary of that challenge,” Badree told ESPNcricinfo.

“We respect every opposition that we come up against, and we are going to do the same against Pakistan. We are going to prepare well, knowing that Pakistan are a very, very dangerous team.”

The 35-year-old gutsy leg-spinner doesn’t think Pakistan’s low ranking in the format will make the contests any easier for the Caribbean side.

West Indies are currently ranked at number three in the International Cricket Council’s Twenty20 rankings, whereas Pakistan’s stand at number seven.

“Pakistan are very similar to us in terms of their consistency – or lack, thereof,” Badree said. “One day they will give a brilliant performance, just like us, then the next, they leave a lot to be desired.”

The Windies side are missing some of their big stars in the series, including explosive opener Chris Gayle and all-rounder Andre Russell.

But their Test and one-day international captain Jason Holder believes they remain a powerful force despite the absence of some top players.

“It’s obviously a big loss to lose certain players, but obviously, we have some very capable players in the dressing room to fill their boots,” he said.

“We have played a very vibrant brand of cricket, especially in the limited overs, and I think whoever is coming in, has the ability to do the same.”

The West Indies start their tour with a warm-up game against the Emirates Cricket Board XI on Tuesday before the opening Twenty20 against Pakistan on Friday.

The two sides will face each other in three Twenty20s, three ODIs and three Tests.
