Srinagar, Janaury 13: The Winter Games Association of J&K (WGAJK) is going to hold the South Kashmir Ski Championship in collaboration with Jawahar Institute of Mountaineering and Winter Sports at Pahalgam on Janaury 22.
The competition in all the categories of athletes would be held during the event and players from South Kashmir districts can participate .
“The Championship is being held here with an aim to encourage a spirit of winter sports amongst local youth. Winter sports are not as popular in South Kashmir Districts as in North Kashmir because they don’t have much facilities available there for these sports,” WGAJK statement said.
All the participants have been asked to report at JIM&WS at 9 am to collect the skis and thereafter report on the ski slope at Pahalgam.
“Since there are limited skis available the participants must bring their own equipment. The equipment will be issued on first come and first basis. The forms could be submitted on sprt but the athletes must bring a PP size photograph and DOB certificate,” statement said.
