Former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar has said that senior member of Pakistan team Mohammad Hafeez shouldn’t have confronted Pakistan Cricket Board on the issue of his positive COVID-19 test.
As is now well known to all Hafeez had tested positive for the coronavirus during phase one of the medical tests conducted for the tour of England. But after the result, Hafeez went for his COVID-19 test with his family privately and had tested negative.
The all-rounder posted his negative test report on his Twitter account which made the PCB unhappy.
“My advice to Hafeez was that if you wanted to do a retest, you could have done it for your satisfaction and for your family. However, he should have not published his [test results] on Twitter. Instead, he should have confronted the board privately. But he didn’t, which was a mistake. You don’t mess with the board that is selecting you. If you mess with them, then it will have consequences,” Shoaib Akhtar was seen speaking on his official YouTube channel.
PCB conducted a retest on Hafeez and other players, who had tested positive in the first round of testing.
As per the results of the 2nd tests, Mohammad Hafeez, Shadab Khan, Fakhar Zaman, Wahab Riaz, Mohammad Hasnain, and Mohammad Rizwan tested negative for COVID-19. However, Haris Rauf, Haider Ali, Kashif Bhatti, and Imran Khan once again tested positive for the virus
